Prešeren

 

The concert is an hommage to the greatest Slovenian poet France Prešeren and it includes flamenco singing in Slovenian language which is a daring project since non-spanish "cante" (flamenco singing) is rarely heard. The author of the project is Anja Mejač, a Slovenian dancer living in Madrid and working with Merche Esmeralda, a legend of flamenco. The music band consists of guitar (Izidor Erazem Grafenauer), violin and vocal (Urška Jeraj) and cajon (Andrej Tomažin. The dancers are Anja Mejač and Mitja Obed.

 

The music includes Prešeren's poems put into a flamenco form, for example "Zapuščena" will be sung in a form of "solea por bulerias" or "Memento mori" as "martinete".  It also includes classical music for example Francisco Tarrega - Capricho Arabe".
